About Us

foodcart

our original solar-powered foodcart on se division

Off The Griddle began in 2010 as a food cart on SE 50th and Division Street in Portland serving made-from-scratch veggie burgers and fries, founded by Ashley Arthur and Dan Harding. Within a year we opened our first brick-and-mortar location called A.N.D Café on SE 54th and Burnside.

As A.N.D Cafe blossomed, we closed down our food cart in order to focus on A.N.D’s burgeoning brunch service. Yet, the desire to resurrect O.T.G. burgers never diminished and, finally, in April 2017 our dream to rebuild Off The Griddle came to fruition. We opened our doors on Earth Day with a newly expanded menu including appetizers, sandwiches, salads and a stand-alone vegan mac n’ cheese menu.

In July 2017, after 6 years on Burnside St., the time came to upgrade and update our brunch service by moving into our newly restored SE 65th and Foster Rd. location. The combination of customers’ favorite food cart and brunch items, a full bar with craft beers, cider and kombucha on draft, plus a full menu of 90s-themed cocktails AND two happy hours helped transform Off The Griddle into the brunch and dinner restaurant it is today.

Put simply, Off The Griddle is a vegetarian-friendly vegan restaurant serving up an ever-widening array of comfort foods, most of which is available Gluten-Free as well. It is the culmination of a journey that began with a big idea, a little gumption and a beat-up, run-down food cart from a field near Boise, Idaho.

If you want to learn more about us, we have been reviewed more than once in PDX Eater, and you can also read reviews and learn more about us on Yelp and Happy Cow.

We are eternally thankful to all the Portlanders and other food lovers from around the world who’ve supported Off The Griddle and made all of this possible. Come by, we’d love to see you!
